While our events were always well attended, we did

While our events were always well attended, we did not have sufficient volunteers to fulfil key management committee roles and therefore we have made the difficult decision to close. We wish to thank all those Landcare members who assisted with running the organisation over the years and the general public who attended our many events.

We are pleased to be able to transfer the organisations funds and assets to another vibrant local group – Friends of the Forest Inc. Many of our Landcare members have now also joined this group to continue improving the natural environment in our great region.

🦉 Have you seen a powerful owl?
On Sunday, April 21st, Brisbane Valley Kilcoy Landcare is hosting a free talk on the largest of Australia’s owls, the Powerful Owl.

The talk will be conducted by Andrew Dinwoodie. Andrew is the Brisbane Powerful Owl Project Coordinator for Birdlife Australia. The talk will provide an overview of the Powerful Owl, how to identify the Owl, its songs and calls and where it can be found. In addition Andrew will give an overview of the Powerful Owl Citizen Science Project, offering attendees with the chance to become involved in the project.

Members of the public are invited to attend the talk. Registration is not required. Please arrive at 9:45 for a 10am start.

We invite you to a free Injured Wildlife Information Session to be held on Sunday morning 6th August from 9.30am – 11.30am at the Kilcoy Information Centre, 41 Hope Street, Kilcoy to hear Roslyn Leslie from Wildlife Volunteers Association (WILVOS), located on the Sunshine Coast. Morning tea will be served at 9.30 and Ros will start her presentation at 10.
@wilvos.au is a non-profit organisation who specialise in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of orphaned, injured and distressed wildlife back into their natural habitat.

Ros has been with WILVOS for more than 20 years and is keen to share her knowledge and passion for rescuing and rehabilitating native wildlife. Her presentation will cover many topics including how to care for injured and distressed animals until help arrives, the best way to make an emergency nest for displaced baby birds, and what to do if you find an orphaned joey still in its mother’s pouch. Ros will bring pouches, baskets and bottles to show us and will also have a supply of 1st aid kits for injured wildlife that can be purchased.

This talk is suitable for everyone, and children are encouraged to attend. Questions after the presentation will be welcomed and Ros will be very happy to speak with anyone interested in becoming a wildlife carer.

With warmer weather fast approaching, more wildlife will be out and about and in contact with people, cars and pets. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how to safely approach injured wildlife and get them the help they need.

You are invited to attend our next General Meeting

You are invited to attend our next General Meeting to hear well-known speaker and native bee expert Dean Bryant as he delves into the world of native bees.
Dean, from Native Bee Rescue and Education Sunshine Coast, will be bringing a small hive for us to look into the secret life of these little critters. Questions from the audience are encouraged so please come along and learn all about these fascinating creatures.
The brief General Meeting will start at 7.00 pm followed by a light supper and Dean’s presentation at 7.30 pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
This event is open to both members and non-members.

A look back at our 19th March event 'Greening the

A look back at our 19th March event 'Greening the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail' held at the old Yimbun Station site just north of Toogoolawah.

During this event, community members planted over 300 local Koala food tree species. As well as providing food and shelter for Koalas, these trees will also cater for many other native wildlife, such as gliders, possums, flying foxes, bees, insects and birds.

Recent visits to the site relieved that all most all of the trees are still doing well and this weekends rain will help them to grow up big and strong!

This project received funding from the Australian Government's Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee Program.
